2021 Rogers Scholar and Adair County High School student Ashton Flatt recently organized a Green River clean-up project.

She asked students, community members, friends, and family to pitch in and pick up litter and debris on May 13, in preparation for the summer tourist season.

“The lake is a place for gathering,” she said. “Family and friends are important to me. Having a clean place to go and hang out means a lot to everyone. It’s easier to take kids places when you know they are safe.”

Graduates of The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars program are required to complete a community service project.
