Two Adair County Elementary School students were awarded bikes and helmets Tuesday morning courtesy of a donation from Casey Creek Masonic Lodge No. 536.

Fifth grader Suzy Kotter and third grader Carter Albrektson came away as the lucky winners. The two students were entered into the drawing by passing an Accelerated Reader test last week during Read Across America. Lodge members on hand to present the bikes were Master Dan Hayes, Treasurer Carper Hayes, and Senior Warden Kevin Sommer.

“This program started several years ago through the Grand Lodge of Kentucky as a way to give back to the communities through a bicycle giveaway” Dan Hayes said. “So our lodge decided to participate in it and have been doing it every year since then.”

Hayes estimated that this was the fifth year that the Casey Creek Lodge has donated bikes. The lodge raised the funds for the bikes through donations and raffles.
