The 2022 home opener for Adair County Middle School’s football team could not have gone much better. The Tribe knocked off a talented Metcalfe County squad in impressive fashion, emerging with a 24-16 win.

“I thought it was clearly our best performance so far this season,” says Adair head coach Wes Stephens. “Our line did a great job blocking and being physical all night. Our skill guys had some room to work and were able to get several explosive plays. We also got a great performance from Carter Curry, who was starting his first game at quarterback.”

The head coach credits his defense for stepping up late in the game after a relatively quiet first half.

“Our defense struggled a little bit early, but we adjusted to what they were doing and had a great second half,” Stephens says. “It was a good win against a Metcalfe team that’s always tough.”

The County Line’s photos from the game are posted below.
