Both the 12U and 10U Little League All-Stars from Adair County will play Thursday in the winners’ bracket finals of the teams’ respective district tournaments.

Both squads advanced with opening-round wins Monday, with the Adair 12U prevailing 4-2 over tournament host Washington County and the younger All-Stars rolling through Marion County 15 to 2.

The older kids’ matchup was a pitchers’ duel from the start, with Adair managing the win with only five hits. Both Ty Burwash and Kaden Burton managed two base knocks each to lead the Adair offense. It took an entire team effort on the mound, with Burwash, Kip Dial, Jay Harmon, and Burton each throwing for Adair. Burton picked up the W on the scoresheet.

The Adair 10U opening-round game featured far less drama. Bentley Petty and Karson Richard combined to strike out 12 batters and allow just a single Marion County hit. At the plate, three different batters tallied four hits for Adair, including a two-run homer from Petty in the bottom of the fifth.

“Everyone hit the ball for us,” 10U head coach Brandon Petty said. “Pretty much everyone got on base.”

Adair’s 10U squad plays the early game Thursday, facing off against Washington County at 5 p.m. CT. The 12U team plays at 7 p.m. against Marion County.
