Adair County Sheriff’s Office makes arrests on drug, other charges

An Adair County couple has been arrested on felony drug charges after an altercation in the Cane Valley community.

On Saturday, May 7, at 5:10 p.m., Deputy Kenny Perkins received a complaint of possible illegal activity occurring around the 2000 block of Cane Valley. Upon arrival to investigate, an altercation could be heard in the back of the residence. 

Upon making contact and observing illegal substances, Malachi Webster was taken into custody after resisting arrest and was placed in a cruiser. Tonya Stearns, 39, was also found to be in possession of controlled substances and was arrested without incident. 

Both parties were lodged in the Adair Regional Jail on charges, including:

Malachi Webster
• possession of a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamine
• possession of marijuana
• possession of drug paraphernalia
• resisting arrest

• possession of a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamine
• possession of marijuana
• possession of drug paraphernalia

Adair woman arrested on felony charges after sheriff’s office called to assist Adair EMS

On Sunday, May 8 at 2:39 a.m., K-9 Deputy Chandler Staten was dispatched to a residence in the Sparksville Community nine miles south of Columbia. EMS had been sent to the location on a medical run but encountered a female later identified as Angelina Kinnett, 20, of Columbia. She was being combative with EMS personnel and had a large stick in her hands and refused to lay it down, per their request. 

Deputy Staten, upon arrival, took her into custody without incident. She was charged for public intoxication of a controlled substance and was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.

She was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail on charges of
• public intoxication
• possession of a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamine

The Adair County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation in both cases.
