Adair seniors recognized between Caverna games

Eleven seniors across Adair County High School’s cheerleading, girls’ basketball, and boys’ basketball teams were recognized Tuesday night, Feb. 15, between the girls’ loss to Caverna and the Tribe’s follow-up win over the Colonels.

Jaylyn Burton, is a 6-year member of the cheerleading squad. Her other activities include HOSA, Pep Club, and Student Ambassador. Favorite memory as a Lady Indian: The bus rides to away games. Advice to a future Indian/Lady Indian: Savor every moment. It will be gone before you know it.
Mackenzie Bennett, pictured with her parents, Adam Bennett and Christy Burton, is a 6-year member of the cheerleading squad. Her other activities include FBLA President, Pep Club President, track and field, FFA, FCA, SOS, Student Ambassador, Yearbook Club, and 4-H Leadership. Favorite memory as a Lady Indian: All the jam-out sessions on the bus rides and Zowi’s randomness. Advice to a future Indian/Lady Indian: Never let your fear overtake your confidence, because through God all things are possible.
Chloe Stapleton, pictured with her parents, Nicole and Brandon Booher and Dustin Stapleton, is a 5-year member of the cheerleading squad. Her other activities include HOSA, Pep Club, and Stars. Favorite memory as a Lady Indian: Last season when Coach Grant went to sit down in her chair, fell out, and busted her drink. Advice to a future Indian/Lady Indian: Always believe in yourself. Don’t ever give up and always strive to do your best!
Jaylan Carter, pictured with her parents, Scotty and Kim Carter, is a first-year member of the cheerleading squad. Her other activities include HOSA, Student Ambassador, FCA, FCCLA, and Pep Club. Favorite memory as a Lady Indian: Meeting my best friends my last year of high school and getting to spend every day with them. Advice to a future Indian/Lady Indian: Soak it all in while you can because it goes by faster than you think.
Ta’Leahah Taylor, daughter of the late Telica Taylor and Thomas Hampton, pictured with Donna Young, is a first-year team manager for the cheerleading squad. Her other activities include Pep Club, Student Ambassador, Sources of Strength, and HOSA. Favorite memory as a Lady Indian: The bus rides and all the new friendships I have made. Advice to a future Indian/Lady Indian: Don’t take life or high school for granted. Don’t wish your youth away, and have fun. You never know when it’s your last day here so be happy and push through.
Kaylee Campbell, pictured with her parents, Brent and Shannon Campbell, is a 6-year member of the girls’ basketball team. Her other activities include Student Ambassador, Pep Club, Softball, Beta, NHS, and FFA. Favorite memory as a Lady Indian: When Sarai face-planted in practice and she rolled up on her face and her feet went over her head. Also: This year’s Christmas trip to Gatlinburg. Advice to a future Indian/Lady Indian: Prepare for every game like it’s your last. Never give up on yourself or your team. It goes by in a blink. Cherish every moment. Always remember, I love you! Plans for the future: To attend Campbellsville University to play basketball and then attend chiropractic school. Thank you: To my parents for always supporting me and pushing me to do my best. To my sister for always cheering me on at my games and listening to me no matter what I’m saying. To my grandparents for always coming to with and support me. To God for letting me be able to play this sport. To my coaches for making my senior year enjoyable and memorable. To my teammates for always having each other’s back and being supportive of me and cheering me on.
Laney Stotts, pictured with her grandmother, Donna Stotts, and sister, Kallie Stotts, is a 4-year member of the girls’ basketball team. Her other activities include Class Office, HOSA, Beta, NHS, Tennis, and Student Ambassador. Favorite memory as a Lady Indian: Blocking Jada’s shot two times in a row at practice. She ended up walking off and refusing to let me play defense on her again. Advice to a future Indian/Lady Indian: It’s never too late to become the player and teammate you want to be. Don’t forget to leave your impact both on and off the court. Enjoy the game and people within it while you have it. It’ll be over before you know it. Plans for the future: Attend Western Kentucky University and major in Human Nutrition, become a sports dietician. Thank you: My family, for always pushing me to do my best and supporting me; all of the coaches I’ve had along the way, especially this year’s coaches for being such great mentors to me my senior year; Mrs. Cravens, for always taking care of me through injuries; and Carli, Kaylee, and all the younger girls for being the best teammates I could ever ask for. I will miss you all so much.
Carli Carter, pictured with her parents, Darrell and Lou Ann Carter, is a 6-year member of the girls’ basketball team. Her other activities include Softball, HOSA, and Pep Club. Favorite memory as a Lady Indian: Going to the Galilean home and getting to interact with all the people there. It was also one of the most memorable nights with my teammates that I will never forget. Advice to a future Indian/Lady Indian: Always give it your all, on and off the court, because time flies and it will come to an end before you know it. Dream big and BALL OUT! Plans for the future: To continue cosmetology school at Somerset College and hopefully own my own salon one day. Thank you: To my Mom and Dad for being my No. 1 supporters through everything, as well as all my coaches for shaping me into who I am today, and every one of my teammates who made a basketball team a family. I love every one of you, and appreciate all you have done for me.
Randall Camfield, pictured with his parents, Jason and Dorothy Camfield, is a 4-year member of the boys’ basketball team. His future plans are to go to college and then attend law school.
