Good morning and happy Monday, ladies and gentlemen! Thanks for making The County Line a part of your balanced breakfast.
We’re celebrating journalism today with our faux-holiday recognition, because today is National Columnists Day. According to the research team, National Columnists Day was founded in 1995 and was originally meant to celebrate Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist and World War II correspondent Ernest Pyle, who died 50 years prior in 1945.
The National Society of Newspaper Columnists was the first to recognize April 18 in this way, and other journalism organizations soon followed suit. This year marks No. 28 of celebrating the columnists who keep us entertained and informed on what’s going on in the world.
Our goal with this website is not to inform the world, but we do hope to inform our community. In that spirit, check back with us today as we have plenty of important, informative, and entertaining content set up to be delivered especially to YOU, our valued reader.
Let’s check in with the intern for today’s weather:
At 6:30 a.m., it’s 44 degrees and cloudy outside The County Line’s Adair County office in north Columbia. Our correspondent at company headquarters in Russell Springs reports a thermometer reading of 46. Expect some rain later this morning, and the cloud coverage is expected to remain throughout the day. Today’s high will top out in the low- to mid-50s.
We’re sending out two special HAPPY BIRTHDAYs today, to Anita Tucker and Alexis Jennings. We hope you ladies each have a wonderful day! Anita gets a double-dose of well wishes, as — in addition to her birthday — she and husband Jesse also celebrate their anniversary today. We hope you two enjoy many more happy years together!
As always, readers are encouraged to send in their special dates to be added to our birthday and anniversary calendar. Don’t forget, by submitting a date (or dates) you automatically enter yourself into our drawing for a YEAR’s worth of free car washes, courtesy of our friends at Splash Carwash, to be selected at the end of this month. Just check The County Line’s Facebook page for more details.
Until next time, have a good one, folks!
