On Sunday, April 10, the Columbia Police Department attempted to initiate a stop after locating a 2011 orange Nissan Rogue after Columbia and Adair units were given an attempt to locate earlier on said vehicle and operator by Adair 911.
A CPD officer observed the party leaving the public square and turning to Campbellsville Street and attempted to stop the vehicle. During this time, the operator continued traveling on Ky. 55 North, northbound. Just outside of city limits driver turned and began driving southbound back toward Columbia. The Columbia Police and Adair Sheriff’s Office were able to box in the vehicle and make it come to a stop where the male operator then fled his vehicle on foot, leaving it in gear where it struck the cruiser of a deputy.
After a brief foot pursuit, the subject was detained and taken into custody. Jaggar Compton, 18, of Columbia, is facing multiple charges including fleeing and evading in a motor vehicle; fleeing and evading on foot; wanton endangerment, first degree; criminal mischief, first degree; and third-degree assault of a police officer.
Officer Kevin Atwood and Deputy Tracy McCarol were the arresting officers.
