Columbia man arrested after vehicle pursuit

A Columbia man was arrested Monday following a vehicle pursuit in Adair County.

Adair County Sheriff Josh Brockman reports that Deputy Kenny Perkins attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Knifley Road just before 8:30 p.m. According to the report, the driver “continued to accelerate and began fleeing.”

The chase eventually came to an end four miles north of Columbia. Forty-seven-year-old Jeffrey Perkins was taken into custody without further incident. He was lodged in Adair County Regional Jail.

Perkins faces charges of fleeing or evading police, first degree; operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs; wanton endangerment, second degree; and speeding (20 mph over limit).

The Adair Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the investigation, which is ongoing.
