The Russell County Public Library wrapped up its summer learning program on Saturday with a jam-packed day of sessions, cosplay, trivia, photo opportunities, and more activities for pop culture lovers of all ages.
The 2022 RCPL Con was the second-ever of its kind, with the first taking place last year. Organizer Kristina Daffron, the RCPL youth services librarian, said she was “overjoyed” with this year’s event, not only with the turnout but also with seeing “everyone’s costumes … and smiling faces.”
Daffron said this year’s event was “bigger and better” than last year’s inaugural convention, with more vendors, more story times, and more aspects overall for attendees to enjoy.
While RCPL Con put a bow on this year’s summer learning program, Daffron said there are many more fun activities to come during the remainder of 2022.
“We try to do stuff like this throughout the year as well,” she said. “While this is our big closer to summer learning, stay tuned by following us on social media, visiting our website, or just stopping in because we’re going to have many more events to look forward to for the rest of the year.”
Below are photos from the Character Storytimes portion of this year’s RCPL Con, where children got to meet, take photos with, do an activity based on, and listen to a story read by their favorite characters.
