CPD makes drug arrest after traffic stop

On Saturday night, April 30, the Columbia Police Department initiated a traffic stop on Hudson Street just after 9:30 p.m. After making contact, the operator stated to officers that he had a firearm in his vehicle and was a convicted felon. K9 Unit Cally was utilized and alerted on the vehicle. The search yielded findings of paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine.

Tyler McLean, 31, with a listed address of Bowling Green, was taken into custody and has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous traffic charges. McLean was additionally taken into custody with an active warrant.

Sgt. Drew Conn was the arresting officer. He was assisted on scene by Officer Trevor Foster and Deputy Chandler Staten.
