Elmer Russell Powell, 52, of the Portland community, died Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 3:43 A.M. at his home.
He was born June 7, 1969, in Adair County, to the late Ray and Inez Edrington Powell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles “Goo” Powell. Elmer was formerly employed at Cox Interior, a farmer and enjoyed fishing.

Three sons – Kyle Powell (Ashley Riordan) of Munfordville, Wesley Powell (Gracie) Baker and Blake Powell, all of Columbia
One daughter – Shelby Powell of Columbia
Two brothers – Gary Powell (Doris) and William Powell (Jamie), all of Columbia
Three sisters – Juanita Benningfield of Campbellsville, Kathy Sullivan (Guinn) of Raywick, Judy Sebastian of Glasgow
Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Funeral service is Friday, March 4, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, with Bro. Stanley Watson officiating.
Burial is in Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Friday.
Grissom-Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
