Good morning, south central Kentucky! Toss a couple extra treats to Rover and Spot on your way out to work this morning, or better yet, take the day off to celebrate, because Feb. 23 is National Dog Biscuit Day. If you’re one who doesn’t observe canine holidays, fret not, because today is also — checking notes — National Banana Bread Day. You can only wonder why these two esteemed holidays must share a date, but both you and your dog should indulge in some extra carbohydrates nonetheless.
At present, just a little before 6 a.m., the thermometer reads a cool 40 degrees at The County Line’s Adair branch in north Columbia, with heavy cloud coverage, so basically, yeah, it’s February. The forecast is no brighter just down the road, where the temperature hovers at 41 degrees right outside The County Line’s headquarters in Russell Springs. Rain is projected for both Adair and Russell counties later this evening.
We wish all our readers the best today but want to give special shoutouts to those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. Unfortunately, today is our first day going live with this website, so we don’t yet have this information, but we encourage everyone to send us your special dates to add to our calendar (countyline@adair-russell.com).
