Lana Roy is officially retiring.

The longtime Social Services Director for Signature Healthcare at Summit Manor celebrated the occasion Wednesday at the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce. Dozens of friends, family members and coworkers showed up to offer their congratulations and wish Roy luck in retirement.

“I just feel very, very blessed,” Roy said. “It was time, and I’m excited about it. I don’t know what I’m going to do now, but I guess I can do whatever I want.”

Roy was Summit Manor’s third-longest tenured employee, having worked at the facility for the past 44 years and 10 months.

Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots, who also attended, has proclaimed Friday, July 29 as “Lana Roy Day” in Columbia in recognition of Roy’s decades of service to the community.
