Lanterns & Tombstones IV is coming this Friday, July 1, at 7 p.m. CT in the Columbia Cemetery. Dave Thomas and Mike Watson will highlight 12 veterans from the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican-American War, Civil War, Spanish-American War, and World War I.
Attendees are asked to park in the judicial center parking lot or the nearby city-owned lot and gather at the top of the drive (between the judicial center and the Columbia-Adair Firehouse). The tour begins at the top of the drive at the edge of the “old section” of the cemetery and will proceed throughout the grounds, circling around and ending at the same spot. The tour usually lasts 45 to 60 minutes.Â
Watson and Thomas suggest, because it may be hot, to dress for the weather and have good walking shoes, as the tour will be traversing the old section and two or three of the newer additions to the cemetery in this latest installment.
