The Miss South Central Kentucky 2022 pageant is set to take place this Saturday, March 12, at the Jim Blair Center in Columbia.

The event — hosted by Abby Maulden, a seventh-grader at Adair County Middle School and the 2021 Ms. Adair County Preteen title-holder — will begin at 2 p.m., and vendors will be open from 1-6 p.m.

The categories still open for contestants to register until Saturday include:

• Baby Miss 0-11 Months

• Wee Miss 12-23 Months

• Tiny Miss 4-5 Years

• Little Miss 6-8 Years

• Miss Preteen 9-12 Years

• Miss Teen 13-15 Years

Registration will be open until Friday, March 11, for a few age groups that “had a deposit not paid or low paid numbers,” according to organizer Taylor Maulden.

Those categories are Toddler Miss 2-3, Miss 16-19, Baby Mister 0-23, and Mister 2-5.

There will be Formal Wear/Sunday Best and Outfit of Choice for each age group, and side awards will include Best Hair, Best Smile, Best Personality, and Photogenic.

The photogenic side award is included in entry fee, and a photo will need to be submitted at the same deadline as the entry deposit, as this will be a people’s choice award and will be voted via Facebook.

There will be an on-stage question in Formal Wear for ages 9-plus.

Queen, Princess, and Duchess will be awarded in each age division. The winner will advance to the state festival pageant.

The pageant has a charitable aspect to it, as the “Civic Queen” will be awarded to the individual who raises the most money for the pageant to donate to the Columbia Adair Volunteer Fire Dept. for the WHAS Crusade for Children. That money will be turned in at registration the day of the pageant and can be business sponsor money, family/friend donations, or fundraising done by the contestant. The Civic Queen can be double crowned.

As of Sunday, March 5, 35 contestants have already registered. The entry fee is $75 and will need to be paid by the day of the pageant. PayPal deposits can be made to taylor.grant826@yahoo.com. To register, visit https://forms.gle/ypEbAUJydSVHkjeh8.
