The Russell County community came together on Thursday to cheer on the Russell County Laker baseball team as it made its way to Lexington for the semifinals of the state tournament.
The bus filled with Laker baseball players made its way from Russell County High School to the Jamestown square and then back through to Russell Springs, escorted by a group of emergency vehicles with their sirens on to let everyone know they were on their way.
The Lakers will play the Woodford County Yellow Jackets (26-13) today (Friday, June 10) at 11:30 a.m. Central time at Kentucky Proud Park in Lexington.
The winning team will move on to the state finals to take on the McCracken County-St. Xavier winner on Saturday, June 11, at 6 p.m. Central time, also at Kentucky Proud Park.
