The Russell County 12U All-Stars are ready to take on their next challenge later this month: a tournament at Ward Correll Sports Complex in Somerset on July 23-24.

Coach Brandon Terry said the team has been playing well this summer and went 1-1 in the team’s first tournament this year in Adair County.

He attributed the all-stars’ success to his players’ hustle.

“They’re all pretty well-rounded kids, and they work hard,” Terry said.

He added that, in his eyes, the team’s ability to work together as a unit has been the most impressive thing about the team. Even though many have played together before, he said the team unity has been at an even higher level this summer.

“They’ve really come together and bonded even more this summer,” he said. “They’ve always played well together, but especially this year since this is their last youth league year before they head off to middle school, they’ve really gotten close as a team. As a coach, you like to see that, a team come together like that.”

The all-star team consists of:

• Holden Hadley

• Eyan Propes

• Kohlton Robertson

• Luke Walters

• Talon Huckaby

• Ethan Hart

• Bentley Rankins

• Johnathan Mcbeth

• Julian Poppewell

• Brody Terry

• Conner Withers

“We’ve got a good group of boys and good parents that are part of this team,” Terry said. “It’s been a fun group to coach.”

The team is coached by Terry, Bucky Walters, and Lance Huckaby.
