Prospective students are invited to attend an open house at the Somerset Community College Russell Center on Tuesday, April 19, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the center, meet the faculty and staff, tour and interact with the Upward Bound Virtual Reality Lab, take photos in front of the green screen pop-photography lab (with backgrounds edited in), and more.
“The Charlene Harrison Educational Center that houses our Somerset Community College Russell Center may have changed a lot since its completion in 1937,” said Regina Haugen, director of the Russell Center at Somerset Community College, “but one crucial fact remains the same: Russell Countians are still learning within its walls. The Russell Center hosts in-person college classes, tutoring, and student support for all SCC students along with Skills U Adult Education and the regional Upward Bound program for high school students.”
The Food Wagon food truck, out of Russell Springs, will be set up at the open house inside the SCC-Russell Center gymnasium. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and dinner will be available from 4-6:30 p.m. Carryout and dining in options will both be available.
While the event is geared toward prospective students, community members are also welcome to attend the open house or just stop by to dine.
“This Tuesday’s open house is an invitation for anyone in the community to stop by and see all the exciting things the Center has to offer,” Haugen said. “Learn about programs, classes, and financial aid. Or, just stop in to pick up a delicious lunch or supper from The Food Wagon!”
The SCC-Russell Center is located at 848 West Steve Wariner Drive in Russell Springs.
