Russell County sophomore Trace Stringer is set to participate tomorrow (Tuesday, June 14) in the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches’ Association (KHSBCA) Sophomore East/West Showcase.

Stringer was one of the leading hitters on the state runner-up Laker squad. The outfielder and leadoff man was third on the team with 43 hits and 22 RBI and led the squad with 14 stolen bases. Stringer scored 27 runs, recorded four doubles, one triple, one home run, and had a .366 batting average in 93 at-bats this season.

He will represent the West team and is one of only 42 sophomores (21 per all-star team) in the state who will be taking part in the event.

“I was amazed and honored to be selected an East/West All-Star,” he said. “I think it’s pretty cool.”

KHSBCA is partnering with Prep Baseball Report Kentucky (PBR) for the event.

Players will participate in a showcase that includes a 60-yard dash, on-field batting practice, and a workout at their defensive position.

All measurables will be collected and posted in each player’s profile on the PBR website following the event. Video will be shot of each player and also hosted in player profiles. The East/West teams will play a game against each other to finish off the showcase.

Standout players will be featured via the PBR Kentucky website and social media platforms. College coaches are expected to be in attendance.

The event will be held at Centre College’s Gary Wright Field at Fishman Park in Danville.

The position player showcase will be held from 10:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern time.

The East/West game will take place at 1:15 p.m. Eastern time.

“I think it’s going to be fun, something new,” Stringer said. “It’s going to be something good for me and help me get some more experience.

“I’m just proud and really thankful for being selected,” he added.
