The art of binge watching

Local television connoisseur Jordan Willis shares his 'what to watch' tips for the upcoming weekend

Cable

America’s Got Talent: Extreme (Sunday, 6 p.m., NBC): If you’re wanting to avoid the same old song and dance show, look here. Contestants battle for a huge cash prize with outrageous talents. Travis Pastrana (motor sports), Nikki Bella (WWE) and Simon Cowell (American Idol) join forces to judge the spinoff of the hit show America’s Got Talent. The new series originally aired earlier in the week, but this will be your shot to catch up before the upcoming episode.

Streaming

Inventing Anna (Netflix):  The Soho Grifter has been all over the news in recent years. Walk through the life of the Instagram legend as she chases the American dream at any cost. Inventing Anna is a nine-part television series that depicts Anna Sorokin (AKA Anna Delvey) a German Heiress who “took” New York City by storm.

Heist (Netflix): Looking for something local? True crime fan? Re-live “Pappygate” through the man responsible for stealing approximately $500,000 worth of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon in this two-part series about the thirsty theft committed at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort.

Sports

NASCAR Cup Series: Wise Power 400 (Sunday, 2:30 p.m., FOX): Is NASCAR back? After a wild finish to the Daytona 500, look for Kyle Larson to get back to his winning ways of 2021. Larson began racing at age 7, and the youngster is looking to show you why NASCAR fans have dubbed him “Young Money.”

Kentucky @ Arkansas Mens Basketball (Saturday, 1 p.m., CBS): No one wants to play No. 18-ranked Arkansas inside of Bud Walton Arena. However, No. 6 Kentucky has won eight of nine against Arkansas dating back to 2015 and looks to win this barn burner. Hopefully, Nolan Richardson and Scotty Thurman are nowhere to be found this weekend. Prediction: Kentucky 77, Arkansas 74.

Classic Movie

The Fugitive (Friday, 8:30 p.m., AMC): This one is a personal favorite and a re-make of the 1963 hit television series by the same name. Harrison Ford plays Dr. Richard Kimball in this 1993 classic where he’s been wrongfully accused of the murder of his wife. Oh yeah, Tommy Lee Jones is a U.S. Marshal with one job: Get his man. Grab some popcorn and enjoy this one.
