Today is World Down Syndrome Day

Good morning and happy Monday, County Line readers! Today is World Down Syndrome Day, and to honor the occasion, everyone is encouraged to wear mismatched socks to remind us to celebrate the things that make us each unique.

We’ve got a big week ahead of us, filled with ball games, meetings, feature stories, and a big announcement on a new partnership later this morning. This evening, The County Line’s two high school baseball teams — Adair and Russell — will meet on the diamond at ACHS in Columbia. Russell enters the game 1-0, while Adair will look to open its season with a big rivalry win. It looks to be a tough task for Adair, with Russell winning 24 of the teams’ last 26 meetings dating back to 1998, according to Scott Bennett of 93.5, WAIN.

Just a little before 7 a.m., the thermometer reads a cool 35 degrees at The County Line’s Adair branch, located on Butler Street in north Columbia, and it appears just slightly colder a few miles east, reading 34 degrees at company headquarters in Russell Springs. Expect plenty of cloud coverage today, but don’t let it get you down—it’s supposed to be nice, if not sunny. The high today will top 70.

We’re wishing a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY today to Kanita Hawkins, a former classmate of this writer going all the way back to kindergarten. As always, readers are encouraged to send additions to our birthday and anniversary calendars. Email us at countyline@adair-russell.com to get your special dates added to the list!
