Good morning again folks, and happy Tuesday. Today is National Vietnam War Veterans Day, so give a thank-you a veteran if you get a chance—whether they served in Vietnam or not.
As time marches on, and we become even further removed from the Vietnam War, it’s important to keep these veterans’ stories and memories alive. We have very few remaining who fought in World War II or Korea, so Vietnam veterans represent the oldest group of combat vets of which there are still a substantial percentage alive. These brave souls should not have to wait until a flag is draped over their caskets to get the honor and respect they’ve earned many times over.
Switching gears, to a topic that feels far less relevant after writing the previous paragraph, let’s have a quick look at today’s weather. Just after 6 a.m., it’s right at 40 degrees and windy across The County Line’s coverage area, with the thermometer showing identical readings at company headquarters in Russell Springs and the Adair office in north Columbia. The high will top out today between 55 and 60.
Some good news for sports fans: We have a ton of baseball, softball, and track content headed your way throughout the day, as we play catch-up on a busy stretch in Adair and Russell County sports—so stay tuned!
We’re wishing a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY today to Nic Genakos. As always, readers are encouraged to send additions to our birthday and anniversary calendars. Email us at countyline@adair-russell.com to get your special dates added to the list!
