Waste tire collection event has begun in Russell County

Russell County will be having a waste tire collection event starting today, Thursday, May 5, through Saturday, May 7.

Residents can dispose of their tires on Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

The event, which is in partnership with the Kentucky Division of Waste Management, will take place at the State Highway Garage, located at 867 Voils Road in Russell Springs, and allows the county’s citizens to dispose of their waste tires at no charge, including tires on rims.

Tires that will not be accepted include:

• Foam-filled

• Off-road Construction

• Solid with/without press-on rims

• Rubber Tracks

• Any tires with a bead greater than 1-3/4 inches.

Tires will also not be accepted from tire retailers, agricultural retailers, scrap dealers, salvage yards, and/or tire recyclers.
